The EVALSO project officially started on January 2008 and has a duration of 3 years. An extension of 6 months has been agreed and under the process of being formalized. The end project date is therefore June 2011.
The EVALSO infrastructure is based on existing infrastructures, both commercial and academic networks, plus the needed new system needed to connect the sites to the first. It has been completed and officially inaugurated on Q4 2010, leaving the remaining months to the JRAx activities.
The EVALSO project has three categories of activity:
- Networking Activities (NAs) that encompass the project management, market survey, and dissemination.
- Service Activity (SAs) that deal with the deployment of the necessary network infrastructure.
- Joint Research Activities (JRAs) that prototype and trial architectures and tools for use in the new communication scenarios made possible by the new infrastructure.
